CLEAN to seek new leadership By Angela Jones WINCHESTER — CLEAN
Inc. will soon begin its search for an executive director. James Stevenson, chairman of the board of directors for CLEAN — Community
and Law Enforcement Against Narcotics — said the position has been vacant
since the beginning of the year. The organization is also without a program manager. Founded in 1986, CLEAN began as a collaboration of two grassroots
organizations — Operation CLEAN, a law enforcement group; and the Community
Core Team, a group of professionals — and Kids Are Our Concern. The nonprofit agency works to develop and implement substance abuse prevention
programs, with special attention toward youth by reducing the availability of
alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Stevenson said the organization has been directed by its board since the
two positions opened. Office manager Michele Hutton and student assistance
program coordinator Denise Reaves have also helped to lead the agency. After one year as chairman of the board, Stevenson said he has many ideas
to guide CLEAN into the future. His plans include naming a committee to find a community-minded individual
to lead the group. The committee, he said, will consider the organization’s
financial status and help to determine its direction. Then it will begin
advertising for the position. “Since it didn’t work out as planned [the last time],” Stevenson said, “I
want to do it the right way this time.” ********* www.cleaninc.org |
