CLEAN has fought drugs for 20 years
(Daily Staff Reports)

WINCHESTER — This year, CLEAN, Inc. – Community Connections for Youth and Family will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Community and Law Enforcement Against Narcotics was created in 1986 from the union of two grassroots organizations.  They were Operation CLEAN, which was a law enforcement group, and the Community Core Team, a group of professionals.

The nonprofit community coalition, along with Kids Are Our Concern, has been working to support development and implementation of community-wide programs directed at substance abuse prevention with special attention toward youth.

To mark the anniversary, CLEAN is planning to hold a gala awards banquet April 7.

The organization held a logo contest.  All local public and private schools in Winchester and Frederick and Clarke Counties were invited to participate.  The winning entry was created by Taylor Henderson, a second-grader from D.G. Cooley Elementary School in Berryville.
