Community Information and Resource Line (CIRL)

What is the Community Information and Resource Line?

(540) 722-2221

CLEAN implemented this 24/7 telephone information line with 300 professionally developed and recorded messages on parenting issues, substance abuse prevention, stress management, as well as other health-related topics and is now available in English and Spanish.

This confidential telephone message system is available to anyone with access to a touch-tone telephone.  The system contains nearly 300 pre-recorded messages on topics including alcohol and other drug abuse, smoking, mental health, parenting, and stress management.  These messages have been written and reviewed by health educators and industry experts.  Since 1981, the Institute for Alcohol and Drug Prevention (IAPD) has relied on these experts for message production, review and maintenance.  Since early 2003, the pre-recorded messages have also been available in Spanish.  The messages are for informational purposes only and not intended as a substitute for professional help.

How to Use?

Simply call (540) 722-2221 from any touch-tone telephone any time and follow the recorded directions.  You will be asked to enter the four-digit code for the message you would like to hear first.  Below is a listing of these codes.

This Community Information and Resource Line has been made possible with support from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through the Virginia Department Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Community Coalition Grant funding, Winchester and Frederick County’s Departments of Social Services’ Promoting Safe and Stable Families funding, and CLEAN’s Drug-Free Communities Support Project.
