Drug-Free Communities Grant
In 1998, CLEAN, Inc. was chosen from nearly 500 applicants as one
of 93 coalitions to receive a Drug-Free Community Grant. This $100,000
grant through the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy was renewed
for an additional two years, ending in September 2005.
In 2005, this grant has been renewed for
another three years, ending September 2008.
CLEAN utilizes these funds to help sustain and expand substance
abuse prevention activities in our community.
The DFC grant programming focuses on the following areas:

To become the central organization in the Northern Shenandoah
Valley for substance abuse prevention, including related research, program
design and development, coordination of service delivery, and evaluation
-
To reduce youth substance abuse and related problem behaviors
(violence, delinquency, school drop out, teen pregnancy) and, over time,
reduce substance abuse among adults through public education efforts
-
To reduce youth substance abuse and related problem behaviors
(violence, delinquency, school drop out, teen pregnancy) and, over time,
reduce substance abuse among adults through skills development
-
To reduce youth substance abuse and related problem behaviors
(violence, delinquency, school drop out, teen pregnancy) and, over time,
reduce substance abuse among adults through recreational and social
events
